I'm going to have to turn Pink's segment into a drinking game.

Shot for every time she spins!

Early footage of Pink's rehearsal is not looking good.

Prediction: @Pink will sing Oscar-winning ballad "Over The Rainbow" whilst flying over a rainbow. #itcouldhappen #oscars

Coming for that Snow White performance as the most iconic... When will your faves?

They are trying to attract the younger viewers. This never ends well.

i really hate it when they start acting desperate like this. the Oscars are already the highest rated awards show on TV, usually the second most watched event of the year, behind the Super Bowl. just embrace what it's about- the movies.

Nothing is worse than when the Oscars try to attract younger viewers. It's like a 70 year old man skateboarding and using the word "radical".

The only thing Pink will accomplish is a higher than normal Australian viewership.

I don't get the hate for Pink. She's harmless for the most part.

I don't hate her at all. She's fine. But, I just don't get being a stan either.

I think Pink is great, but I'll lose my fucking shit if she spins in the air again.

Sorry to bother you again and getting serious about something that wasn't meant that way but I truly adore Alecia and need to respond to this.

I was 15 and living through hell in highschool. As far as I remember I've always been fascinated with American pop music. I was never the cool kid and say what you want about her but her music always come from an incredibly personal space. For the first time, someone was speaking directly to me when she sang "I'm my own worst enemy, it's bad when you annoy yourself". She even hates that song now and feels embarassed when someone mentions it. I bought the album and for the first time found a singer that came from a very difficult place. I found Just Like a Pill and hell, listening to "Where I can run just as fast as I can to the middle of nowhere to the middle of my frustated fears" really changed my life. When you have the worst day of your life for like a whole year and can't talk to your parents or any friend at all and find something to hang to, it just feels right. From there, I kept following her work and she kept delivering every album, at least one song that spoke directly to what I was feeling. She can sing her ass off, she can perform any song and at least elicit an emotional response from what she's doing. She will never be the top bitch but looking at her career and seeing what she's achieved, it gives me some hope that I can do the same. I know this is one hell of a corny answer but the heart wants what the hearts wants. She goes for Max Martin to get her hit singles but if you ever have the time, listen to something like Waiting for Love or Beam Me Up or Family Portrait. Even her "easy" hits have a meaning to them and she always showed enough work ethic and hard work to get where she is today. I can't honestly tell the last mainstream singer to release something like Stupid Girls, that is rooted on social commentary, or a song like Dear Mr Pesident, that whatever your feelings about American politics, was a bold move to feature on a pop album. She can go from bitter, heartbreak anthems like So What to something like Sober, that, again, for someone that drinks a whole lot to have fun, kinda makes a point.

Lemme just stop and apologize again for the long ass post... I won't argue that her music is groundbreaking or for everyone, but she's incredibly talented and means a whole lot to a lot of people to see her dismissed so easily.

    Love,

First of all, you don't ever have to apologize for anything. Everyone here has their favs for whatever reason and will defend them and that's what makes these "arguments" fun. Secondly, the only reason I brought any of this up is because I've never seen anyone be that passionate about Pink before. But, clearly you are and for good reason and that's great. Just to be clear, I do think she's talented and I have been a fan of hers through the years even if I don't love her.
