    True Detective Casts Mamie Gummer

Good Wife alum Mamie Gummer is heading to the Ozarks.

The actress has been cast in the upcoming third season of HBO’s anthology drama True Detective, per THR.com. She’ll play Lucy Purcell, a mother of two children who finds herself involved in a crime.

Season 3 takes place in the Ozark Mountains and centers on a terrible crime as well as a mystery that plays out in three time periods. Oscar winner Mahershala Ali (Moonlight) will star as Arkansas state police detective Wayne Hays alongside Carmen Ejogo (Zero Hour), Scoot McNairy (Halt and Catch Fire) and Stephen Dorff (Star), among others.

Really looking forward to this, and hope this is going to be a return to form for Pizzolatto. The lead is much more inspiring this time: pretty sure Mahershala is going to kill it.

    I won.

Let’s hope so. Season 1 was one of the greatest Dramas made for TV and it’d be great to see this show come back in a big way. It feels like the kind of show were everyone has something to prove. Pizzolato has to respond after Season 2’s failure and Ali isn’t proven as a leading man so this is high stakes. Let’s hope they succeed.

I sort of loved S2 in a weird sort of way. It was so bad at times, but Peet's I really liked. McAdams was incredible and very underrated on that season.

‘True Detective’: Ray Fisher Joins Cast of HBO Anthology Series As Regular; Three More Set To Recur On Season 3

HBO is rounding out the cast for the third season of Nic Pizzolatto’s HBO crime series True Detective. Ray Fisher (Justice League) has been added as a series regular, joining previously set Mahershala Ali, Carmen Ejogo, Stephen Dorff, Scott McNairy and Mamie Gummer. Additionally, Rhys Wakefield (The Purge), Michael Greyeyes (Fear the Walking Dead) and The Closer alum Jon Tenney have been cast in recurring roles on Season 3 of the anthology drama.

The next installment of True Detective tells the story of a macabre crime in the heart of the Ozarks, and a mystery that deepens over decades and plays out in three separate time periods.

Fisher will play Freddy Burns, Wayne’s (Ali) son. Fisher, Greyeyes and Tenney will play recurring characters Henry Hays, Brett Woodard and Alan Jones, respectively, with no additional information provided about them.

He was meant do 3 episodes but ended up doing the first 2? That's not a major thing I don't think.

This is the first I'm hearing of this tbh. Initially, it sounded like he was directing all the episodes except one which Pizzolatto himself was gonna direct .
I don't think the scheduling conflict issue is entirely false because I've been wondering how he was gonna juggle directing this and working on post for Hold the Dark. But the "No comment" tweet makes it clear there is much more to it than just that.

Hold the dark is almost finished/finished, so it’s most likely about Pizzolato being an ass.

I also thought he was doing the whole season, so I was really saddened to hear that he was leaving.
