Your favorite songs from your country

Well we talk a lot about music in here, but most of it is (understandably) in English. I figured this thread would be a nice idea!

(Americans, Brits, etc., you can post your favorites too, of course. )

    Here's one of mine:

It's a song about Rio, of course, but in a way it seems like it could be about the whole country of Brazil, really.

    (and it's a damn bop.)

When it comes to lyrics (yes, lyrics!), it's this. This is truly one of my favorite songs ever, in any language, and that's really all down to the lyrics.

When it comes down to the music, it's this. Slightly different .

This is a classic, but seriously, there too many that I love.

    And from the same movie.

A classic. It took my awhile to understand that he was miming a painter, like some you can find in Montmartre (which is the place in Paris he describes in the song, with nostalgy)

OMG, great idea for a thread. Gimme some eighties new wave jams and some romantic, melodramatic sad boi weepies.

I love this thread! Philippines mostly loves its big melodramatic ballads, think of the Mariahs and the Celines and the Xtinas so we have a lot of those

But then I also love this new stage of OPM (Original Philippine/Pinoy Music is how we call the genre here) of more upbeat

    And then there's also these:

Arturo Cavero is probably the best songwriter Perú ever produced

Also this classic by Chabuca Granda

Miss Lucía de la Cruz masterpiece of a ballad too

And of course this that is now a Peruvian emblem. The version of Yma Sumac is my favorite

My country has a very vibrant modern indie music scene at the moment that I love. (I'm not too big into our pop scene tbh) Here's a couple, both in English and in Filipino.

I think AWers in particular would love this:
