I know Sue isn't everyone's favorite person around here because of her politics, but damn if this performance isn't undeniably amazing. Geena is fab too, but Sarandon runs away with this for me.

Two excellent performances but I've always preferred Davis.

Davis did something different, very far from her persona and the hard female characters she's played almost her entire career. Sarandon on the other hand, althought great, plays a character that she's played many times before.

They're both so good but the bit where Davis says, "something's crossed over in me and I can't go back" swings it for me.

Geena probably has the harder part and she pulls it off beautifully. But Sarandon's sense of hard-bitten gravity elevates the picture to another realm- few movie scenes have stuck w/ me more as Louise's quiet moment of introspection at night on the side of the road in the Utah desert...

This. I think it's Sarandon who grounds the movie more. Geena has the nuttier character, but in the end what stays with me more is Sarandon's gravitas, doubts and strength. And the amazing naturalism of her performance.

    Thank you for so much

Sarandon edges it for me, but I thought both were great, hope to see more films with two strong female lead performances.

I'll be so sad if Davis loses this, she should have won the Oscar. Both her and Sarandon are fantastic but Davis is next-level. Her Thelma has one of the best arcs for a female character of the 20th century. I think she and the role are that good. Her emotional, physical and sexual transformation through freedom is palpable minute to minute. It's one of my favorite performances of all time.

Absolutely one of my favourite duos of all time (possibly my #1 tbh?) in a favourite movie of mine. I saw this film when I was really young, really gay, and started to get into film. It has forever left a mark on me and will remain a personal favourite throughout all my life if I were to guess.

They and the film are what I like to call ICONIC.

I cannot chose and if you were to ask me tomorrow, Davis, but today I chose Sarandon. Both are phenomenal. Both have Oscars and all is well in the world.

    Oliver, what's good??

It's such a shame that it didn't make our 1991 Top 10 in the canon!

    Thank you for so much

Both were fantastic but Sarandon was objectively better.
