I guess 3 nods for GOT then 1 each for Handmaid's Tale, The Crown and Westworld

If there was any justice in the world, Esmail would be getting nominated for that 'one shot' episode.

This is impossible? Last year there was a tie and thus 7 nominees, so I could see that happening again. But I'm going with:

The Crown - "Paterfamilias" (Stephen Daldry)
Game of Thrones - "Beyond the Wall" (Alan Taylor)
Game of Thrones - "The Dragon and the Wolf" (Jeremy Podeswa)
Game of Thrones - "The Spoils of War" (Matt Shakman)
The Handmaid's Tale - "After" (Kari Skogland)
The Handmaid's Tale - "Unwomen" (Mike Barker)

Westworld - "The Riddle Of The Sphinx" (Lisa Joy) is my alternate, I guess?

Wanted to predict The Americans' series finale as the Emmys have been kind to series finales in the past, but the shows that have gotten nods (Lost, Boardwalk Empire, Breaking Bad, Downton Abbey, ER, etc.) had all been nominated for Directing before, and The Americans has never gotten a Directing nod even though it's been recognized in acting, writing and Drama Series.

Handmaid's Tale got 2 nods here last year, so I feel like they could repeat that.

Yeah this is absolutely impossible to predict. Especially with the number of episodes Game of Thrones, Handmaids and Westworld have all submitted. I think the latter actually really screwed up by not just submitting one episode and may suffer here because of it.

    Going with:

    Handmaids x2
Game of Thrones x2 (probably Taylor and Podeswa)
    The Crown
    Stranger Things (Duffer Brothers)

That last spot will basically be the main indicator of how strong the contenders are. Stranger Things could easily miss, and it probably will do, and is competing with: Mindhunter, Westworld, Americans, as the three I see as its main competition.

Game of Thrones x2 and Handmaid's x2 makes sense and then the other two spots are a crapshoot.

I'm going The Americans (Long) and The Crown (Daldry).

People predicting Kari Skogland over Mike Barker is interesting. There are reasons to do so, but I do not agree with them.

1.Game Of Thrones(Shakman/Spoils Of War)-He was DGA nominated for the first time earlier in the year for this episode, and I think he is probably seen as overdue from that branch so if GOT only got 1 nom here I think it goes his way
2&3.)Handmaid's- Skogland&Baker-The series is the favorite to win Drama Series and it's strong in this category, double nom seems like a high probability
4.The Crown(Daldry)-Even if this show has a sophmore slump he should be fine
Toss up slot's wouldn't surprise me if 5-6 fell to those just on the outs
5.Mindhunter(Fincher)-I don't think Mindhunter will get in Drama or Writing but Fincher is to respected by this branch to miss
6.Podewsa(Dragon and wolf)-No clue what the 2nd GOT episode would be just guessing this one

    Just on the outside
    7.Stranger Things(Duffer Bros)
8.Homeland(Lesli Link Glatter)-This branch really respect's her and or Homeland, but I think the comp just might be too strong for her to sneak in again this year
    and
I think Westworld multi submission will cost the show.No marque name to rally around(Besides Lisa Joy who's resume is mostly as a Producer and writer) and it's a genre series that not everyone is fully behind. The Americans has 0 career DGA or Emmy Director nom's,there's probably 20-30 names more likely to get nominated then 2 Director submissions from that show.

Yeah I don't really understand that. But I think both will probably get in anyway.

Yep. "Unwomen" is the better episode and I think voters will recognize that. They can still both get in though.
