You can do it, Naomi! You're...
ONLY 10 EASY STEPS AWAY FROM OSCAR!
1.) Bankrupt small, independent distributor via massive Oscar campaign. Failing that, proceed to...
2.) Cash in King Kong residual checks to pay for FYC advertisements from Kinko's.
3.) To avoid getting sent straight to VOD, attach entire film as a "trailer" to another film people actually want to see. And then...
4.) Try to do it Lahti-style and win Academy Award for Best Short Film.
5.) Avoid telling a story that everyone already knows by adding exciting details and/or gratuitous editing.
6. Carefully and patiently weather the wrath of film critics/the royal family/the tabloids/Diana-maniacs for trying to add said details. (Good luck!)
7. Find all of the boxes with "August: Osage County" screeners and slip in self-made cam bootleg from premiere screening at Lowes...the hardware store.
(Not Loews, the movie theater -- too expensive!)
8. Trick octogenarian Oscar voters into thinking that you are, in fact, a real princess. (Hey, it worked on Eva Marie Saint!)
9. On Oscar night, have camera crews come to Nicole's house, Joan Crawford-style, so you can win and keep your day job.
10. OSCAR!
OMG, Margo! This is truly a gift from the gods for her! Well deserved! Love her!
Martindale Oscar nom. Calling it now.
I really wonder what they'll do with Robert's character and campaign. I mean, she's a lead too right. But it's pretty hard to imagine JULIA ROBERTS in a basicly LEAD role go...supporting? Seams like way to big a star in too big a character to do that. We'll see I guess.
Blue Jasmine is coming for your wigs, gurls
not funny.
now who will play ivy.
i hope instead of rumors of amy adams, it's amy ryan.
“Perhaps when we find ourselves wanting everything, it is because we are dangerously close to wanting nothing.”
I just dont see how Amy Adams could do it. Her schedule is pretty tight. She's doing Into the Woods right now through aug. 25. From everything I have read it's been a tough, exhausting production. She also has 2 movies to promote with festivals included right around the time the movie is supposed to start production. PSH and Joaquin hate doing press so Amy will probably have to do a lot of heavy lifting when it comes to the Masters press. Plus I still think she is too young.
There is no doubt, Julia will be lead. People who have read the script confirms her character has more prominence than in the play, even more than Meryl.
And The Normal Heart will premiere in 2013 so Julia will aim at a nomination in the supporting category. It´s obvious she will go lead for August.
I was thinking about this the other day and someone who I could see playing one of the daughter roles (but I think it will clash with The Newsroom filming) would be Alison Pill. I need to reread the play since it's been a while since I saw it but going by what I remember she's definitely age appropriate to play one of them.
That being said though still reckon they should have thrown Amy Morton into it instead since she was fantastic in the stage production. But she's doing Virginia Woolf with Tracy instead.![]()

‘August: Osage County’ Signs Up Dermot Mulroney

Dermot Mulroney is heading to Oklahoma. Joining the cast of August: Osage County, the actor will be going to the state this fall to start filming on the John Wells-directed film. Mulroney will play Steve in the adaptation of Tracy Letts’ 2008 Pulitzer Prize winning family clan play. Steve is the not-quite-who-he-seems businessman fiancé of Karen, the self-deluding youngest daughter of the family. Juliette Lewis plays Karen. August: Osage County reunites Mulroney with his My Best Friend’s Wedding co-star Julia Roberts. The Oscar winning actress plays Barbara, the daughter of Violet, played by Meryl Streep. Abigail Breslin plays Barbara’s disgruntle daughter, Jean. Margo Martindale recently joined the film too as Violet’s sister Mattie Fae. George Clooney and Grant Heslov are producing along with Jean Doumanian, Steve Traxler and Claire Rudnick Polstein. The Weinstein Co. is financing and distributing August: Osage County. Mulroney is repped by WME and attorney Barry Tyemann.

The "Sherlock" star will join Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts in TWC's adaptation of the Pulitzer- and Tony-winning play.
Benedict Cumberbatch, the Emmy-nominated actor who stars on the BBC America’s Sherlock, is in negotiations to join the cast of August: Osage County, the Weinstein Co.’s adaptation of the Pulitzer- and Tony-winning play.
Cumberbatch caught the town’s attention with his portrayal of Holmes and was rewarded for his work in the series’ second season with an Emmy nomination. Sherlock led him to, among others things, being cast as the villain in the upcoming Star Trek sequel.
He just wrapped Twelve Years a Slave with Brad Pitt and Michael Fassbender and will be both voicing the dragon Smaug and doing motion capture work as the Necromancer in Peter Jackson’s Hobbit movies.
The actor, who won British theater’s Olivier Award for his work in Danny Boyle’s stage production of Frankenstein, is repped by UTA and John Grant at Conway Van Gelder in the U.K.
