Although I don't fully agree, Weiner has stated in interviews that the first couple episodes after the season premieres are pretty divisive among fans.
These episodes have obviously been divisive (so are a lot of episodes, remember when Tomorrowland aired?) but there's no real way to gauge General Internet Reaction until later in the season.
I'm only busting your chops because you laid out this idea that AD is totally fringe in their appreciation of the first two episodes but the rest of the world was less than enthused. All while not actually showing any of those opinions but yours. Again, not invalidating yours or trying to make you feel ganged up on or anything but when you're the voice of dissent that makes you the mouthpiece.
That's all true, and I get it. I wasn't prepared to be the only one on here that didn't like these last two episodes, but them's the breaks sometimes. But I'm not making up the dissention out of thin air. It's there and not hard to find. I don't have Metacritic scores to throw around, but these episodes have gotten much press in blogs and other forums, and not all of that press is good. Anyway, I'll just stop now, b/c I hate being put in this position. I'll know better next time.
Yeah, I just read Tim Goodman's dislike for it and he's my favorite TV reviewer on the planet. Sorry, Todd.
I think Breaking Bad will win, though Frasier is the one show that managed 5 series wins.
It might also help that Mad Men has 2 more Drama Globes, 1 more Drama TCA award, and 1 more PGA Globe than West Wing and has as many Drama Emmys. The overall goodwill/outside accolades being greater than what West Wing received could help Mad Men in getting one more Drama Emmy than West Wing. And the sentiment that Mad Men is due for more awards thanks to its actors having won almost nothing could help push more votes towards Mad Men in Drama. Or not.

I don't care if it's won four Emmys, Mad Men deserves it.
Mad Men > Breaking Bad > Game of Thrones.
I need to watch Homeland, though.
Homeland is not better than Mad Men. Or Game of Thrones or Breaking Bad or Boardwalk Empire or Justified or even The Good Wife. I like it, but I think that show is kind of overrated.

IMO, Homeland is better than all of those shows except Mad Men and maybe Game of Thrones. But I can understand why people might think it's overrated since it isn't necessarily as ambitious as MM, GoT, BB, or BE. I wouldn't mind seeing Homeland win drama series at all but I can't see it being the one to unseat Mad Men. I think if that does happen, it will be Breaking Bad (sigh).
Breaking Bad is not winning the Emmy. It'll be either Mad Men or Homeland. Maybe Game of Thrones with an outside chance, but I doubt it.
I'm not going to be too upset when Homeland wins. It's definitely going to land somewhere in my top five dramas of the TV season, and it has a shot at the top spot. "The Weekend" and the finale are among the finest hours of TV broadcast this season, and I think "The Weekend" might be my favorite episode, period.

I don't watch much tv, but "The Weekend" was amazingnesssss. Homeland is amazingness. Nods for Drama + Danes, Lewis, Patinkin, and Baccarin plz!
It would be funny if Mad Men wins its first acting award the year it loses drama series.![]()
This was yet another episode that was low on Don Draper, relative to previous seasons. It was also inordinately masculine, with no Betty and very little Peggy or Joan. The dinner party was mostly focused on the awkwardness with the men, with the women serving to further the males' characterization.
I suppose this would be a possible tape for Jared Harris or Vincent Kartheiser. Or if they want to really get wacky a guest tape for Aaron Staton; I can't remember him ever doing more in an episode, and Ken showed depth and humor. The other storyline that touched on his story-writing was more about Sal than Ken. My favorite part of the episode was probably the brief Peggy/Ken interaction since Peggy makes everything awesome-er. I found it cute and interesting that they have a pact together, especially since my mind went to the same place as hers did at the beginning of the episode.
So far, I would submit A Little Kiss & Mystery Date for Best Drama. This episode was fine, though, better than Tea Leaves or last year's 5th episode (which I disliked). The preview for the next episode implies there may be a lot of Peggy, though the previews are often misleading.

This was just an impossibly beautiful episode of television. One of the series' top achievements.

Is Frank Pierson part of the writing staff now, or did he just co-wrote this specific episode with Weiner?
I like Slattery but I hope Kartheiser is also nominated this year.
This was superb in every possible way, though I'm always biased towards Pete-centric episodes. I hope Vincent Kartheiser finally gets that Emmy nod he richly derserves!
