This could be great, actually. There's a whole lot of batshit crazy in the Oz universe that's never been explored in film. Now I want someone to do a full-on adaptation of The Marvelous Land of Oz -- Return to Oz didn't even scratch the surface on the weirdness of that book.
Tip turning into Ozma, I'm not going to lie... that messed me up as a kid.

I think this looks like it could be a really fun movie but it could also, for sure, be terrible just like that dreadful Alice movie.

...but yes, anyway it will be HUGE indeed. A billion dollars here we come.

Yeah, this will make a shit load of cash and win Oscars in art direction and costume design regardless if it deserves it or not.

Why can't they just film Wicked with Amy Adams and Anne Hathaway and call it a day?

I'll probably see this for the cast. It's nice to see Michelle Williams in a film with some... color.

But yeah, the CGI looks terrible. The release is still in 9 months, hopefully they'll improve the effects.

Leaving a screening of The Paperboy.

Looks like I'll just be repeating many other comments here, but basically, I really liked the first chunk. The black-and-white photography, the aspect ratio, the circus-y-ness all looks fun enough for me. I'm not buying Franco in the lead role yet, but he'll probably be fine in the end.

But then we get to Oz and it's all this hideous CGI and stupid looking creatures and, like others have said, it looks so much like fucking Alice in Wonderland and now I hate that movie more than ever because it's like some sort of disease that's infecting fantasy cinema.

I trust current Raimi more than I trust current Burton, though, so I really hope this is just a poorly cut trailer intended to look like Wonderland and that Raimi actually has something that doesn't totally suck up his sleeve.

The Oz books are so fucking crazy. You could do relentlessly faithful adaptations of them, and they'd all probably be awful, but people would still see them to wonder at the shit Frank Baum pulled out of his ass. And all of it in order to shore up the gold standard!

I know. I want to see the WOGGLE-BUG on screen. Make it happen, Hollywood! Failing that, an adaptation of the book where Ozma gets turned into a peach pit.

Wow, I had never heard of this.

"Upside-Down Town (November 17, 1990) - Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tin Man, and the Cowardly Lion end up in Upside-Down Town where everything is the opposite."

That would have been a great opportunity to include all of the weird episodic misadventures from the original book wisely cut out of the movie. Like the CHINA COUNTRY.

He wasn't a fan of Alice in Wonderland btw.

Devin Feraci deleted his tweet, but he also dug it. He basically just repeated Steve's thoughts. Really fun, and fantastic use of 3D.
