This award nearly always goes to really experimental stuff, i think. Not something as high-profile as Beasts.

    2011 Spark of Being
    2010 Film socialisme
    2009 The Anchorage
    2008 RR & Casting a Glance

They never give it to Oscar players. Last year: "Spark of Being". The year before: "Film Socialisme". Etc

The two big winners so far today were also completely snubbed by NY, and the big winners there have gotten zero mentions here so far. Are they sticking it to the East Coast?

Editing, maybe Bigelow? I don't think Chastain has any shot.

Probably still the top 2 awards. "The Master" won't be a concensus pick even here and nothing else can really beat it.

No worries. This is just the precursor. Nicole is preparing to run the table next year. Get those Lead Actress/body of work awards!

Those are the most likely. Although, you have to think if they like The Master this much, not awarding PTA would be weird. But, they seem to be spreading the wealth.

They will probably make a "statement" by giving The Master film. I think its odds are stronger in that category than director, which is odd.

I have this fantasy that they'll be checking their Twitter while st lunch, look at Boston's choices and decide to go with either Phoenix or Lavant for actor and, depending on Boston's ultimatr choice, either Haneke or PTA for director.

I've got ten points in Gold Rush, lol. For Frankenweenie. But, on the plus side, LA has made some bold and exciting choices!
