    They should just name best actor in a motion picture as Denzel Washington award since he's won like 10 times. NAACP has a massive hard on Denzel and if he were to play a dead body they would most likely nominate him for best supporting actor. In theory I think these awards are a good thing for under-represented groups but they become pointless when they always vote for the same people (Denzel, Perry, Smith) while ignoring people like Ava.

    Who else on that list was going to win aside from Denzel? It speaks mostly to the state of the motion picture industry more than anything else.

    And let's not forget that this anyone whom is a member of the NAACP can vote for the winner, so it's very much a popular vote.

    I would have picked Foxx over Washington, but I was impressed with both performances. Though Foxx had the more complex role. He did some nice work with body language and facial expressions without benefiting from all the dialogue that Waltz had.
