Why do you have Brave as a longshot?

    Skyfall, Skyfall
    Suddenly, Les Miserables
Everybody Needs a Best Friend, Ted
    Learn Me Right, Brave
Ancora Qui, Django Unchained I just wanna live in a world where Elisa is an Oscar nominee

Why do you have Touch the Sky as a TOP 15 contender and not Learn Me Right? That's the one getting nominated.

I think For You is in the Top 15 after grabbing surprise BCA/GG nods.

I still fear a Skyfall snub.

Suddenly will win in a walk. It's beautiful and will be from a Best Picture nominee.

    Learn Me Right is in.

FFF16 launches on September 1, 2014. Entries will be accepted starting August 15!

I think Skyfall might just need the nomination to get a win. Alas, with the way the branch is, the nom is gonna be stupid-hard.

Otherwise, no clue how this category will work out. "Suddenly" will make it in, but I don't see it winning. One of the Brave songs will make it in too, I think - Pixar original songs are always a good bet.

So, two Mexican films are shortlisted and competing with an Opera Pop song by an italian group and a sacred-style piece by James Horner (Cristiada and Hidden Moon). And then there's Casa de mi Padre. I love this randomness.

Skyfall probably will be snubbed. There won't be any credits songs that aren't also played in the context of their film nominated, as I think there haven't been any since the new rules were implemented.

Skyfall getting snubbed would be so asinine and ridiculous, but it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest.

I want to think that Fiona Apple has a shot.

I wouldn't be so confident in Suddenly. Being in a BP nominee is not a guarantee of winning. In The Deep from Crash lost and it was from the Best Picture winner. In 2002 Lose Yourself beat the original songs from Chicago and Gangs of New York. Also, a song from a live action movie musical hasn't won since 1996 I don't think.

I really don't think Skyfall has anything to worry about:

    1. Skyfall
    2. Suddenly
    3. Ancora Qui
    4. Still Alive
    5. Who Did That to You?

I agree that "Skyfall" doesn't really have much to worry about. Oscar nominee ADELE AND performing the song (if they do that this year). Ratings bonanza for them.

The music branch does not care.

They snubbed Bruce Springsteen for The Wrestler. Songs played during credits are never nominated now.

Eh, I'd say there's a difference between the opening credits of a Bond film, and just the regular, credits scrolling on a black screen at the end of a movie.
    Better watch out Amy,
    Reese, and Rosamund...

There's a new frontrunner in town.

Yeah, consider that the end credit songs for An Inconvenient Truth, WALL-E, Slumdog and Toy Story 3 all made it in. What helped all of those was that stuff was going on over the credits instead of just blank stuff (Like in The Wrestler). The question for Skyfall will be whether or not the credits are compelling enough on their own, which is tough.

Yeah, but I'm trying to remember when the credits/context rule was instituted (I think post-Inconvenient Truth at least). Like, in Slumdog, in 127 Hours finale, shit's happening, etc. Skyfall is just titles, right?

If Adele does get nominated they won't resist to reward her. I agree with all of the posters who said the nomination is the hard part.

This is the best I can find on YouTube:

I mean, everyone knows what a Bond opening is. I don't think that's going to hurt it? While it's true that the last Bond film to get a Song nod was For Your Eyes Only in 1981, Skyfall is huge. The acclaim, the box office, the 50th anniversary, etc. It just makes sense imo.
