  1. Is it any more barren than it was this time last year, when the only absolute done deals were Fassbender and Leto, with Cooper and Hill still to be seen, and Barkhad Abdi seeming like a possibility, but not a lock?

There always seem to be a couple names with standout reviews that get in to this category, with the rest filler from strong best picture contenders.

  2. I guess I just have to speak up .I’ve seen many of the above-mentionned films and loved Robert Duvall in The Judge . However, I have to say that Robert Pattinson in The Rover was phenomenal! He didn’t just inhabit the character of Rey – he WAS the character. I feel badly that only big studio films that had high Box Office amounts warrant a nomination for an actor. If the studios either choose not or don’t have the funds to put up for the awards’ buzz , should an outstanding performance be neglected?
