Alliance of Women Film Journalists (AFWJ) EDA Awards nominations

The Favourite

The Favourite leads the Alliance of Women Film Journalists nominations with 11, followed by ROMA with 9 and Leave No Trace and Vice at 8 apiece.

The group, outside of traditional, all-inclusive nominations and categories, also highlights women in film and women filmmakers with their own categories such as Best Woman Screenwriter as well as special mention categories like Actress Defying Age and Ageism, Actress Most in Need of a New Agent and Most Egregious Age Difference Between The Lead and The Love Interest.

The EDAs are named in honor of AWFJ founder Jennifer Merin’s mother, Eda Reiss Merin, a stage, film and television actress whose career spanned more than 60 years. A dedicated foot soldier in the industry, Eda was one of the founders of AFTRA and a long-standing Member of AMPAS.

EDA is also an acronym for Excellent Dynamic Activism, qualities shared by Eda Reiss Merin, AWFJ members and those honored with EDA Awards. Nominees in each category are determined by 84 voting AWFJ members who submit nominating ballots.

Here is the full list of nominations in all categories.

About Erik Anderson

Erik thanks his mother for his love of all things Oscar, having watched the Academy Awards together since he was in the single digits; making lists, rankings and predictions throughout the show. This led him down the path to obsessing about awards. Much later, he found himself at GoldDerby, led by Tom O’Neill and then migrated over to Oscarwatch (now AwardsDaily), headed up by Sasha Stone before breaking off to create AwardsWatch. He is a member of the International Cinephile Society, GALECA (The Society of LGBTQ Entertainment Critics), the International Press Academy and is the founder/owner of AwardsWatch.
