The Online Film Critics Society (OFCS) announces winners of their top film honors of 2024, as well as technical awards, Special Achievement and Lifetime Achievement honors for industry leaders and icons, and the organization’s top 10 non-US released films of the year.

Anora, directed by Sean Baker wins Best Picture, Best Actress for star Mikey Madison and Best Screenplay; Coralie Fargeat’s The Substance takes home awards for Best Director, Best Supporting Actress for Margaret Qualley and a Technical Achievement Award for Makeup &/or Hairstyling; Conclave and Dune: Part Two also receive multiple awards and Dahomey wins Best Documentary.

In addition to the 2024 top film honors, the Online Film Critics Society recognizes the work and contributions of several professionals and organizations with their annual Special Achievement and Lifetime Achievement Awards. OFCS members are invited to nominate recipients of both awards, for achievements they deem worthy of these recognitions. Receiving this year’s Special Achievement Award is Ava DuVernay, for her work of her own and for supporting a new generation of female filmmakers; Barbara Crampton, supporter of indie first time filmmakers; and Nicolas Cage, for his infinite capacity to constantly surprise everyone.

Earning Lifetime Achievement Award recognition are industry titans Rick Baker, David Cronenberg, Clint Eastwood, Elaine May and Christine Vachon. The OFCS also recognizes a slate of ten international films as the best releases outside the U.S. in 2024.

The Online Film Critics Society awards honor a broad list of films and creators from around the globe, including box office blockbusters and independent gems alike, for a total of more than 30 films nominated across eighteen categories.
