“When challenges arise, we do not stand alone. We stand together. This past year, that solidarity was put into action in ways that truly mattered, as Los Angeles faced devastating wildfires, unions across entertainment didn’t hesitate. The costume designer guild, along with the Teamsters, basic crafts, SAG AFTRA, the DGA, the WGA and so many others, came together to support the victims to remind our community that no one is forgotten in a time of crisis,” said Costume Designers Guild executive director Brigitta Romanov

At the Oscars, the costume design nominees are Conclave, Gladiator II, Maria, Nosferatu and Wicked.

Oscar and CDG-winning legend Jenny Beavan was honored with the Career Achievement Award. Beavan won Oscar for her work on A Room with a View, Mad Max: Fury Road and Cruella, and three CDG awards for The King’s Speech, Mad Max: Fury Road and Cruella. During her speech, the actress thanked the guild, saying, “You know certain actors have specific items that dictate your character, or they approach their character by having a clear idea of what they wear. That is not me. I am not a trained actor, and I spend most of my time preparing for a role by breathing into a paper bag, attempting not to completely panic.”
