91st Drama League Awards Nominations: Big Shows, Big Stars Lead the Way

The Drama League has announced the nominees for the 2025 Drama League Awards, where theater and film legends earned top mentions with productions of Smash, Death Becomes Her and Real Women Have Curves leading the way with four nominations apiece.

Oscar winners and nominees like Denzel Washington and Jake Gyllenhaal (Othello), Paul Mescal (A Streetcar Named Desire), Robert Downey, Jr. (McNeal) and Adam Driver (Hold On To Me Darling) are nominated for the Distinguished Performance award, alongside Cole Escola (Oh, Mary!), Idina Menzel (Redwood), Megan Hilty (Death Becomes Her) and Nicole Scherzinger (Sunset Blvd.) and more. RuPaul’s Drag Race winners Jinkx Monsoon (Pirates! The Penzance Musical) and Alaska Thunderfuck (Drag: The Musical) are also nominated in the category.

Honoring Broadway and off-Broadway achievements, the nominations were announced by Sarah Hyland and Orville Peck at the official announcement event held at Lincoln Center’s New York Public Library for the Performing Arts.

The 91st Annual Drama League Awards will be held at the Ziegfeld Ballroom on May 16 and hosted by Frank DiLella.

The Drama League also acknowledged the previous recipients of the Distinguished Performance Award who appeared in Broadway or off-Broadway productions this season. As the Award can only be won once in a performer’s lifetime, they are ineligible to be nominated; however, their exemplary work is recognized and applauded.
