Bleecker Street and LD Entertainment Acquire Anton Corbijn Thriller ‘A Talent for Murder’ with Helen Mirren as Novelist Patricia Highsmith

Bleecker Street has partnered with long-time collaborator LD Entertainment to announce today that they have acquired U.S. rights to BAFTA-nominated Anton Corbijn’s A Talent for Murder, a twisty thriller starring Academy, Golden Globe, BAFTA, Emmy, and Tony Award winner Helen Mirren (The Queen, Eye In The Sky) as the celebrated writer Patricia Highsmith, alongside Tony Award winner Alden Ehrenreich (Weapons, Oppenheimer), and Olivia Cooke (HBO’s House of the Dragon, The Sound of Metal). The film will be released theatrically nationwide this fall.
Directed by Corbijn and based on the 2014 play Switzerland by prolific Australian playwright, screenwriter, and novelist Joanna Murray-Smith, who adapted it for the screen, the film follows a callow young literary agent from New York (Ehrenreich) who is sent to Switzerland to persuade Patricia Highsmith (Mirren) to write one final installment of the Ripley anthology.
Magnolia Mae’s Gabrielle Tana and LD Entertainment’s Mickey Liddell and Pete Shilaimon serve as producers on the film. Also producing are Brouhaha’s Troy Lum and Andrew Mason; Jim Robison and Kurt Martin for Lunar Pictures; Carolyn Marks Blackwood for Magnolia Mae Films; Karl Spoerri at Switzerland’s Zurich Avenue; and Andrea Occhipinti for Italy’s Lucky Red. The movie was financed by Head Gear Films, Metrol Technology, and LD Entertainment. FilmNation Entertainment is handling international sales.
“We are thrilled to be reuniting once again with LD, as well as the great Helen Mirren, to release Corbijn’s captivating ode to not only Highsmith’s lively spirit, but her riveting work itself,” said Kent Sanderson, CEO of Bleecker Street.
“A Talent for Murder is exactly the kind of project we love making at LD. Anton Corbijn brings a fresh take to Patricia Highsmith’s world, and Helen Mirren, Alden Ehrenreich, and Olivia Cooke deliver incredible performances. We’re proud to continue our longtime partnership with Bleecker Street and excited to bring the film to audiences nationwide this fall,” said LD Entertainment’s Mickey Liddell and Pete Shilaimon.
The deal was negotiated by Avy Eschenasy for Bleecker Street, with LD’s Michael Glassman and CAA Media Finance on behalf of the filmmakers.
A Talent for Murder is the latest in a series of collaborations between Bleecker Street and LD Entertainment, with previous titles including Bone Lake, I.S.S., Teen Spirit, Megan Leavey, and Anthropoid. Through Bleecker’s event cinema division Crosswalk, its upcoming partnership is the live theater capture of Tony Award-winning hit musical Hadestown, to be released theatrically in North America on July 24, 2026.
It also marks Bleecker’s continued expansion into the genre space, with upcoming titles including Victorian Psycho, Zachary Wigon’s period thriller starring Maika Monroe and Jason Isaacs, which premiered in Un Certain Regard at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, before opening September 25; Harmonia, the cult thriller directed by Academy Award-winner Guy Nattiv and starring Carrie Coon, Bella Ramsey, Odessa Young, and Lily James; and the recent acquisition of When Darkness Loves Us, the Emilia Clarke-led horror film from director James Ashcroft, set for 2027.
Additional upcoming Bleecker releases include Adam Shankman’s Stop! That! Train! starring RuPaul, opening in theaters nationwide June 12; Academy Award-winner Alex Gibney’s Musk; and the next film from legendary filmmaker Mike Leigh Tender Loving Care.
