Grammy-nominated comedian Nate Bargatze will host the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards, it was revealed today.
The 2025 telecast will air live from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, September 14 beginning at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on CBS and streaming live and on demand on Paramount+.
“It’s a huge honor to be asked to host such an iconic awards show and I’m beyond excited to work with CBS to create a night that can be enjoyed by families around the world,” said Bargatze.
Bargatze had previously hosted the CBS holiday special Nate Bargatze’s Nashville Christmas, and was Grammy-nominated in 2022 for Best Comedy Album from one of his Netflix specials, The Greatest Average American. He has released six stand up specials to date, including 2024’s Your Friend, Nate Bargatze, also on Netflix. He hosted Saturday Night Live in 2023, featuring one of the most popular sketches of this decade, “Washington’s Dream.”
“Nate is one of the hottest comics in the business with a remarkable and hilarious brand of comedy that deeply resonates with multi-generational audiences around the globe,” said Television Academy chair Cris Abrego. “We are thrilled to be able to leverage his one-of-a-kind perspective to entertain TV fans watching this year’s Emmy telecast.”
Nominations for the 2025 Emmy Awards will be announced on July 15. The Creative Arts Emmy Awards are set for the weekend prior to the Primetime Emmys, on September 6 and 7.
