I completely missed Lindsay Lohan’s vampire/werewolf film Among the Shadows getting released back in March.

Not sure if the Razzies will bite, as it seemed to purely be VOD, whereas The Canyons at least had a limited theatrical run.

    Some reviews:

European politics, werewolves, vampires and Lindsay Lohan. We have the makings of an epic here, an epic train wreck that is. Among The Shadows does not disappoint, writer Mark Morgan and director Tiago Mesquita serve up a cocktail of incomprehensible plotting and awful dialogue. Meanwhile Lohan moves into the Bela Lugosi phase of her career, but we’ll get to that in a minute.

Where to begin here? Most people can lower their expectations of a film when dealing with low budget movies, obviously, you are going to get Avengers like special effects here. But this movie will test your endurance because these are some of the worst visuals I have seen in my life. I don’t believe I can overstate this enough, the visuals are TERRIBLE. There are scenes where the characters who are supposed to be on the streets of France are standing behind a blatant blue screen so bad, it is made to look even worse when a character moves in the shot.

Lohan is the draw but she isn’t even the star of the film, that would be Charlotte Beckett. All of Lohan’s scenes look like they were shot in a maximum of 5 hours and to further that theory, there are voice-over scenes that are clearly not in her voice but it’s not like they can call her back in post-production (if this film even had post-production).

“Among the Shadows” marks a creative nadir for everyone involved. For Lohan specifically, the fallen celebrity finds herself prematurely entering the Bela Lugosi circa “Bride of the Monster” stage of her crashing career. Slapdash scenes seem built around previously shot footage while a laughable lookalike fills in whenever Lohan is unavailable. If those aren’t echoes of an Ed Wood-Bela Lugosi collaboration, I don’t know what is. The only difference is that “Among the Shadows” is such a malodorous mess of cinematic ineptitude, Ed Wood would roll over in his grave if he had to watch one minute of it.

Well, that sounds legit incredible. Lohan drawing comparisons to Wood-era Lugosi is a guaranteed way to grab my attention. I still feel like Lohan was destined for great things that she maybe achieved in an alternate reality, but if our reality gets Lindsay Lugosi, I'll take it!

It just means they will be televised, they're not adding TV categories... although I'd kinda like to see that.

lol, I went to the Razzie show a couple times in the past and it's so tacky and had a lot of technical issues (mics cutting off or not working, etc). I think it was all sort of purposely put together poorly. But it'll just be hilarious to see it on TV now and still be cheesy.

    Let's see

    Cats:

    Worst Picture
    Worst Director - Tom Hooper
    Worst Actress - JHud
Worst Sup. Actresses - Dench, Wilson and Swift
Worst Sup. Actor - Derulo, Corden, McKellan and Elba

So yeah, I think they're going to hog all the awards this season.

Dark Phoenix has potential to be a big contender, right? I don't get why they snubbed Apocalypse though.

You think any of the actors will be nominated?

It could just be snubbed altogether like Apocalypse, but if it becomes a thing then Turner, Chastain and Jlaw would be the most obvious targets.

Apocalypse had mediocre but not terrible reviews, made enough money to not be a flop, but not enough to be a hit, people didn’t really like it but they didn’t hate it, it was the definition of mediocre in every aspect, so when you have BvS and Suicide Squad the same year, who’s gonna even think of it. Dark Phoenix does have horrible reviews and is a flop so it might be a more interesting targets for them.

I think they're getting tired of awarding superhero movies. Sure, they'll still nominate them, but as far as winning Worst Film or Worst Director or whatever, they'll skip. If Cats does indeed end up being bad they can't resist giving it all the awards. They haven't awarded a musical since the 80s, they're in need of another one.

And with the end of GOT + her Emmy nom + her wedding, she’s pretty high profile this year, she’d definitely be nominated if they go for Dark Phoenix.
