    I doubt McQueen will miss BAFTA. That’s probably his strongest precursor.

    Cuaron=Del Toro (Three Amigos powah)
    Cooper=Gerwig (actor turned director with breakout hit)
    Lee=Peele (timely early release about racial politics)
    Chazelle=Nolan (tech player some think is cold)
    Jenkins=PTA (revered auteur who comes from behind)

    Lanthimos=Guadagnino (early arthouse favorite left just outside)
    Farrelly=McDonagh (crowd-pleaser with questionable racial dynamics and lackluster direction)

    Widows doesn't really feel like a HFPA film to me, I think BAFTA is his best bet at a televised precursor.

    The Globes will love Widows and shower it with noms.

    Edit. Oh you meant director. Still think they could pick him over Lee or Lanthimos.

    This is pretty good.
    I'm feeling that Lanthimos Guadagnino comparison.

    With all respect I think The Favourite has already made a much bigger splash than CMBYN. I really think Lanthi sits much more comfortable than Guada ever did.

    You really want round two, don't cha?

    The Favourite should be something the Globes will love. That is not comparable to CMBYN since The Favourite is actually a top contender and can actually win major categories. I think they'll like Widows, too. I wouldn't be surprised to see McQueen in Director there but BAFTA is most likely where his nom pops up.

    McQueen is the Globes or Bafta nominee that gets snubbed at the end. We always have one. I agree that HFPA will probably like Widows.

    I still think the director who will hit most of the precursors and get snubbed is Chazelle.

    I'm not even sure how many precursors Chazelle is hitting anymore.

    Highly doubt Lanthimos is missing.
