When we are getting the shortlist? Also I hope Carter Burwell gets some love here for Ballad of Buster Scruggs, this score is magnifique.

I know it stands no chance here, but Theodore Shapiro's Destroyer score is so so good!

I am starting to think that we kinda overlooked Buster Scruggs here. It's a memorable score (unlike almost every contender in this weak field) and voters will likely watch it, because it's a Coens movie.

I think it's a great score which absolutely deserves recognition but unfortunately the Oscar prospects of "Buster Scruggs" seem kinda slim to me (which would be a shame since it's a great film). Plus I dunno whether the branch will be okay with his use of previously existing motifs (for instance, 'Streets of Laredo' which itself is based on an Irish folk tune) - he's done it before in his great Coens scores "Fargo" and "True Grit" and both were snubbed. But I hope you're right!

Although the field doesn't look that weak and unmemorable to me. "First Man", "Beale Street", "Mary Poppins Returns", "BlacKkKlansman", "Black Panther", "Mary Queen of Scots" - seems like there's maybe not plenty but quite enough big contenders this year.
