This is very female heavy, but...whatever.

My only real hope here is that Kacey gets nominated.

    Could definitely see this happening.

It's spurned three hits and its biggest landed at just the right moment. It would be highly unfortunate, but certainly plausible.

Travis Scott will make it over Post Malone. ASTROWORLD is highly successful and respected. He’s pretty much the new Kanye when it comes to producing pedigree.

I'm thinking these make sense lol:

Black Panther: The Album, Music From And Inspired By
    Colors - Beck
    Dirty Computer - Janelle Monae
    Egypt Station - Paul McCartney
From a Room: Vol. 2 - Chris Stapleton
    Reputation - Taylor Swift
    Scorpion - Drake
    Sweetener - Ariana Grande

It's hard to know how they'll fill the 8 spots but they should spread the wealth in terms of genre. I'm putting Ariana and Taylor representing Pop, Drake and Kendrick for Rap/Hip Hop, Janelle for R&B, Beck for Alternative, Stapleton for Country and McCartney for Rock.

They could go super popular and find room for Cardi or try to highlight critical faves like St. Vincent or Kacey Musgraves. It's always hard to predict the Grammys but this year even more so cause we have no idea what they'll do with the extra slots.

The Carters are in the hunt ofc but the album really flew under the radar. There's also the beloved Greatest Showman soundtrack which was boosted by the Pink song released right in the middle of voting.

Well, that hasn't worked for Kanye in AOTY. Travis Scott is huge, obviously, but I don't think he's quite mainstream or undeniable enough for AOTY yet. He's a fringe contender, though.

Kanye never had to contend for a 8-nominee AOTY field, otherwise he probably would have made it - also, I wouldn’t be predicting Travis if the field hadn’t been expanded. I look at Travis the same way I looked at 2000s/early 2010s Kanye minus the polarizing figure/controversies that were always an integral part of Kanye’s brand. Travis has been in the game way longer than most people imagine (I mean he produced key tracks in Kanye’s Yeezus and this was back in 2010 when Travis was only 18 (!!!) and has been building his resume ever since), ASTROWORLD managed to live up to the hype, went #1, made quite a huge mark (SICKO MODE is still one of the biggest songs of the year) and the upside that he has over Post Malone is that he’s not just a “pop star”... in fact, he doesn’t position himself as a pop star. He’s a producer/writer/auteur first made a megastar because of whom he’s dating.

tl;dr: Travis Scott is a quiet menace. I firmly believe he’ll make it.

Black Panther and Invasion of Privacy both seem like much bigger moments in rap to me than ASTROWORLD, and if they nominate a third rap album for AOTY - a big if - I can't see them ignoring Post's sales and streams in favor of an album with only one big hit.

    You can call me "idol".

What is the thing that makes so many people predict Janelle Monae here with such confidence?

Was that a really big album in the US or something?

^ Strong critical acclaim could push it ala Lorde's nod last year

I feel weirdly strongly about U2 here. I think a rock act is getting in, and it'll be between McCartney and U2, which both have a good chance. U2 certainly has the sales, albeit with a tour bundle as a big boost.

    So something like,very loosely:

    Scorpion
    Sweetener
    Reputation
    Invasion of Privacy
    From a Room: Vol 2
    Songs of Innocence
    Black Panther
    Golden Hour

With Egypt Station, Dirty Computer, Colors, Astroworld, The Greatest Showman, Beerbongs & Bentleys, Everything is Love, Tha Carter V, Red Pill Blues, and The Thrill of it All having some varying degrees of chances.

It's a crowded year. I think only Taylor and Drake are a sure thing here for a nomination. (Even though I'd still predict Stapleton to win if he's in lol)

But really, who knows at rhis point. The selection committee could use this as an opportunity to nominate some acclaimed albums from non-high profile artists ala The Decemberists or Blood Orange or St. Vincent or Troye or Pusha T.

That, on top of the fact that that Janelle is very well connected, and very well liked. A lot of highly regarded industry people worked on that record, which helps immensely at the Grammy's, too. She's turned out incredible performances, amazing videos, and a short film for the album which only aids her as well.

It's so hard to predict this time around...

If the Panel is still the same one of the last 2 years we might find Mccartney AND Swift out

I think the Blue Ribbon panel has an opportunity to be really unpredictable here. I think this eight provides a little bit of everything. Could see lots of surprises.
