    Yeah, this thread is slowly convincing me on Ready Player One.

    I wasn't too high on 'Ready Player One' because it felt like it was a big financial disappointment in the United States.

    It wasn't a huge hit in the US but it wasn't a flop either. And I don't think its financial status will matter to the VFX branch. Those guys don't seem to care about grosses all that much - plenty of financial disappointments have been nominated and have even won. Look no further than the most recent winner "Blade Runner 2049".
