So, if Green Book is a major threat to win now, it should be getting an Editing nomination, no? Every Best Picture winner in this century (and beyond) got one save for Birdman, and Birdman was an understandable exception because of its single shot gimmick. If it misses here, I don't see how it could remain a frontrunner.

Editing will 100% be the dealbreaker. If it misses editing it will have no below-the-line support. If we want to continue the Driving Miss Daisy comp, that got 4 tech noms and 9 nominations overall.

If Green Book can make Editing when Get Out, Lady Bird, Little Miss Sunshine couldn’t...

I still don't see Green Book emerging here, BP winner or not. Its strength will be apparent via Farrelly in directing and/or shock Cardellini nom

I got 5/5 in Editing last year, but this year I feel like I'll bomb for sure.

Quick show of hands, how many are predicting an ASIB snub here as well?

I've been leaning to it. I don't really buy Green Book here, but even without it there's Vice/Bohemian Rhapsody/First Man/Roma/BlacKKK/ASIB and something's gonna have to give here. ASIB and BKK missed BAFTA, so for me it's one of them that misses. Films like BKK have stronger track record in Editing but ASIB, even with its recent struggles, is a little stronger. I dunno, coin flip. I kinda feel like ASIB has been building to a final nail in its BP winner coffin and a miss here would be it.

I'm predicting the snub for A Star Is Born here, as well as Roma. First Man and BlacKkKlansman have suspenseful, kinetic editing. Bohemian Rhapsody has flashy editing and the "it was saved In the editing room" narrative. Vice is stylish and hit both ACE + BAFTA. Green Book is the PGA winner that will get a coattail nomination.

Roma is respected but editors won't respond to it because it's a film built of master shots. Then there's a significant group online and in Hollywood that thinks A Star Is Born has pacing issues in its second half.

He should have won it two years ago, so hopefully he pulls it off.

I have A Star is Born snubbed in Editing. Especially after that BAFTA snub, which is a bigger deal than what pundits would like to believe.

But also because amongst all the top contenders in this category, A Star is Born and ROMA have the "least" flashy and visible editing. A category that loves their Hacksaw Ridge's, Baby Drivers, Star Wars The Force Awakens, etc.

It's not just "the most" editing or pacing that influences good editing.

The shear amount of work editing, reel cutting and assembling a film matters sometimes. From an editors standpoint, that is admired, and rewarded, ie Hacksaw Ridge.

    FINAL PREDICTION (in alphabetical order)

    BlacKkKlansman
    The Favourite
    First Man
    Roma
    A Star is Born

Vice's critical reception is just too low for me to feel comfortable predicting it here.
