I think this is a Sandler bias jumping out. I don’t see anything about this project that would even remotely suggest broad enough appeal for a Picture play.

I assume it’ll get good reviews and compete for critics prizes and Sandler + screenplay will be fringe contenders and that’ll be it.

Okay, I publicly admit defeat, The Aeronauts is probably the real deal if Amazon handles it correctly.

Just that the buzz is justified and it can be a major, top BP contender.

Good to know. I honestly don’t mind it. Even if it is basic bait and even if I’m mildly annoyed by the pointless changing of the real story, it seems like it will at least be a more engaging watch than most traditional Oscar bait.

And Jim Carrey had “The Truman Show”, “Man on the Moon” and “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind”, even then AMPAS didn’t take him seriously, so I can see why some have reservations over Sandler.

Don’t be ignorant. You know it’s a different era and Academy now. You also know A24 wants bragging rights to say they’re the studio that got Adam Sandler an Oscar nomination. I don’t see why everyone is so blind to this (it’s also a greatttttt role)?
