BAFTA nominee Gabriela Cowperthwaite is perhaps best known for her work on the award-winning documentary Blackfish but few realize that she’s directed feature releases as well. In 2017 she was at the helm of Megan Leavey starring Kate Mara and now audiences are set to experience Our Friend (read our review here) which is perhaps her biggest project to date.
With a strong cast (Jason Segel, Dakota Johnson, and Casey Affleck) and a powerful message, her second feature film is getting rave reviews. AwardsWatch contributor Dewey Singleton had a chance to speak with Gabriela about the transition from documentaries to feature films and the challenges within.
Our Friend is now available on demand.
