Tom Hanks makes a play for some summer blockbuster dollars in Greyhound, an inspired by true events World War II action thriller penned by Hanks himself, based on The Good Shepherd by C. S. Forester.
The story follows US Navy Commander Ernest Krause (Hanks) on his first war-time assignment at the midpoint of World War II during the Battle of the Atlantic, as he leads his an international convoy of 37 Allied ships while being hotly pursued by wolf packs of German U-boats.
The film also stars Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Elisabeth Shue, Stephen Graham and Rob Morgan. It was directed by Aaron Schneider (Get Low) and produced by Gary Goetzman (Tom Hanks’ co-founder of their production company Playtone).
