The Critics’ Choice Awards, celebrating the critics picks for the best movies and television of the year, gave their top awards to La La Land, Game of Thrones and The People v O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story.
La La Land was the big winner of the night on the movie side, winning eight trophies overall. Moonlight and Manchester by the Sea managed to eek out a few wins, as did Fences‘ Viola Davis and the Amy Adams sci-fi film Arrival won Adapted Screenplay and Sci-Fi/Horror Movie. Natalie Portman (Jackie) bested La La Land‘s Emma Stone in Best Actress, one of their first true match-ups of the season.
On the television side, Game of Thrones won Best Drama Series, Silicon Valley won Best Comedy Series and The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story continued its winning streak. Along with winning best movie made for television/limited series, it also won all four acting categories for limited series.
T.J. Miller hosted the ceremony, which aired live on A&E.
