TRAILER: Charlotte Rampling and Tom Courtenay are Oscar-worthy in ’45 Years’
It would seem that after careers spanning decades as Charlotte Rampling and Tom Courtenay’s have that you wouldn’t or couldn’t be surprised by them but in the trailer for their new film 45 Years (directed by Weekend and Looking‘s Andrew Haigh) they’re a revelation.
Set on the eve of their 45th wedding anniversary, the couple are rocked by the news of a shocking death and spend the next five days ruminating over their past, their marriage and their future.
Rampling and Courtney picked up Best Actress and Best Actor prizes for this at the Berlin International Film Festival this year and will also be headed to the Toronto and Chicago International Film Festivals. The film will be released in the U.S. by IFCFilms/Sundance Selects, who managed Marion Cotillard to an Oscar nomination this year for Two Days, One Night and Patricia Arquette a win for Boyhood. Courtenay has been nominated for two Oscars (Dr. Zhivago in 1966 and The Dresser in 1984) while Rampling has never been nominated before. This could change for her next year.
