2015 Oscars: The New Gold Rush Contest is Here!
The awards season is nearly upon us once again, which marks the beginning of yet another installment of the Gold Rush Contest!
Do you like listening to those podcasts? Want to be a member of the Gold Rush Gang and have your personal predictions among the best on the web? This is the place to do it. Winners of this contest end up in that elite group. A group whose predictions not only rival but beat anyone else. Can you contend for the top spot?
For those unfamiliar with Gold Rush, it will consist of 29 competitions staggered throughout the awards season, in which AW’s finest put their powers of prediction to the test.
Should you choose to participate, you will be asked to predict the winners and/or nominees of several different awards bodies throughout the season. Based on your predictions, you will receive a score for each “event.” New this year is an Early Oscar Nominations predictions event to really test your predictions prowess. It will consist of just the top 8 categories: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Original Screenplay. This contest will land ahead of all critics and industry nomination and winner announcements and be a valuable piece of the Gold Rush puzzle for those who do well there.
While winning individual events is part of the goal, the larger picture is also important here. Each event score is also included in your overall tournament score. At the end of the tournament, the player with the highest overall score wins. It’s as simple as that! But be aware, deadlines are hard and fast. One missed prediction could cost you the game!
So, whether you want to maintain your master prognosticator status or prove that you’re not totally useless, we hope you’ll join us again this year. New faces are always welcome, as well!
