2016 GRAMMY Awards: Taylor Swift Makes History with 2nd AOTY Win
Taylor Swift became only woman in Grammy history to win Album of the Year award twice in its 58-year history and did so at the tender age of 26. Top nominee Kendrick Lamar was shut out of the top categories but still managed to take home five Grammys of his 11 nominations. Swift also took home the Pop Album prize and ironically shared the Best Music Video (“Bad Blood”) with Lamar.
Newcomers Alabama Shakes had a good night, winning three awards – Rock Song, Rock Performance and Alternative Music Album. The other top categories were widely split between Mark Ronson (Record of the Year), Ed Sheeran (Song of the Year) with the other Pop categories split between the two.
Little Big Town and Chris Stapleton dominated the country categories and The Weeknd and D’Angelo took the R&B awards.
Meghan Trainor took home Best New Artist despite it being the only category she was nominated in and up against contenders in other areas.
The live performances were marred with sound problems but the Hamilton performance and David Bowie tribute by Lady Gaga were the standouts.

Huh? Plenty other female artist won Album of the Year before her… Adele, Céline Dion, Alanis Morissette, Norah Jones, Whitney Houston
Yes, that meant to say she was the first to win twice, as it says under the photo. Corrected, thanks for the catch.
