The Television Academy announced today its plans for the Creative Arts Emmys, which recognize the lion’s share of behind the scenes Emmy-nominated work each year. Normally a two-night series of live, in person ceremonies the weekend before the Primetime Emmy Awards, this year will be a five-night series of virtual and live events.

2020 Emmys to go virtual, producers send nominees letter explaining details

The virtual 2020 Creative Arts Emmy Awards will stream on Emmys.com beginning Monday, September 14 through Thursday, September 17, at 8pm ET/5pm PT. The fifth night will be a live broadcast ceremony on Saturday, September 19, at 8pm ET/5pm PT on FXX. No word on how the live event will incorporate the requirements of social distancing and crowd sizes currently in place in California, and Los Angeles specifically.

The 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards will air the next day, Sunday, September 20, as a virtual event hosted by Jimmy Kimmel.

[UPDATED] Here is the breakdown of what sections and categories will be presented at each of the five events.

Wednesday, September 16: Scripted Night One
