2022 Georgia Film Critics Association (GAFCA) nominations
The Georgia Film Critics Association (GAFCA) has announced its slate of nominees for the GAFCA Awards celebrating the 2022 year in film where Everything Everywhere All at Once claimed the most nominations with nine The A24 film was followed closely by The Fabelmans and The Banshees of Inisherin with 8 and 7 mentions, respectively.
Also receiving a notable number of nominations was Nope with 6 nominations, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever with 5 nominations, Decision to Leave also with 5 nominations, and Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio and TÁR all with 4 nominations.
The Breakthrough Award—a category intended to honor a filmmaker’s or performer’s entire body of work released in the calendar year and not tied to specific film titles—is composed entirely of performers for a second year in a row. Atlanta native Danielle Deadwyler is one of the nominated performers. She is joined by Tenoch Huerta, Stephanie Hsu, Gabriel LaBelle, and Amber Midthunder.
The shortlist for the Oglethorpe Award for Excellence in Georgia Cinema, a special prize for a film made in Georgia, has also been released and includes films like Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Devotion, The Menu and Honk for Jesus. Save Your Soul..
