The Music City Film Critics’ Association (MCFCA) is proud to announce its nominations for the MCFCA 2024 Film Awards. The association is comprised of 40 film critics working in or near Nashville, Tennessee.

Dune: Part Two leads with 10 nominations in categories including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Ensemble, Best Score, Best Sound, Best Cinematography, Best Production Design, Best Editing, Best Action Film, and Best Stunt Work.

The Brutalist follows just behind with nine nominations in categories including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Screenplay, Best Score, Best Cinematography, Best Production Design, and Best Editing.

“It brings me much joy seeing these two films represented throughout our nominations,” said Brandon Vick, board member of the MCFCA. “Two sprawling epics that exhibit what cinema is and can be.”

In addition to these two films, seven other films got at least five nominations, including The Substance (8), Nosferatu (7), Wicked (7), Conclave (6), Challengers (5), Nickel Boys (5), and Sing Sing (5).

“In a year with so many quality films to choose from, these nominations reflect that quality with some very distinctive choices that represent the diverse cinematic experience,” said Micheal Compton, Vice President of the MCFCA.
