2024 Oscar Predictions: BEST ACTRESS (June)
After the one-two punch of Justine Triet’s Anatomy of a Fall winning the Palme d’Or and the Grand Prize going to Jonathan Glazer’s The Zone of Interest at Cannes this summer, there will be fewer hot properties this fall and winter than the star of both, Sandra Hüller.
While many will already be familiar with her from her award-winning turn in 2016’s Oscar-nominated Toni Erdmann, having the backing of NEON (for Anatomy) and A24 (for Zone) is surely setting up the German-born actress to have a major U.S. breakthrough and with her role and as her role in the latter is supporting that should only bolster her chances in Best Actress for the former.
Netflix again has a handful of contenders but who and how will they prioritize and are we in for another Bening vs Portman battle or will Carey Mulligan climb her way to the top?
