30th Screen Actors Guild (SAG) set February show, first to stream live on Netflix in new partnership

The Screen Actors Guild (SAG) has announced that the 30th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards will take place on Saturday, February 24, 2024. The two-hour ceremony will be streamed live on Netflix at 8 p.m. (ET) / 5 p.m. (PT) and return to the Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall.

Earlier this year it was revealed that after TNT, the network that had aired The SAG Awards for over 25 years, would no longer air the awards in the wake of the Discovery buyout of Warner Bros (which owns TNT), that the show would stream on Netflix’s YouTube channel and then begin a partnership in 2024 to stream on live on Netflix.

SAG-AFTRA National Executive Director Duncan Crabtree-Ireland said: “We are thrilled to embark on this exciting new partnership with Netflix and we look forward to expanding the global audience for our show. As the only televised awards program exclusively honoring the performances of actors, whose work is admired by millions of fans, the SAG Awards are a unique and cherished part of the entertainment universe.”

Netflix Head of Global TV Bela Bajaria said: “The SAG Awards are beloved by the creative community and viewers alike, and now even more fans around the world will be able to celebrate these talented actors. As we begin to explore live streaming on Netflix, we look forward to partnering with SAG-AFTRA to elevate and expand this special ceremony as a global live event in 2024 and the years to come.”

The commercial-free 2023 event proved to be a big production and viewership success that earned history-making wins for Everything Everywhere All At Once as it took three of the four individual acting categories plus the cast award, a feat it would then repeat at the Oscars.

Submissions for nomination consideration will open Monday, August 28, 2023 and will close Friday, October 27, 2023. With the actor’s permission, producers, studios/networks, agents, managers, or publicists may submit a performance for consideration in a category of the actor’s choosing. Actors may also submit their own performances. Eligible performances must air or premiere between January 1, 2023 and December 31, 2023.
