52nd Daytime Emmy Awards: ‘General Hospital’ Leads with Seven, Drew Barrymore Wins First, David Attenborough Makes History

General Hospital was the big winner of the 52nd Daytime Emmy Awards, with seven wins including Outstanding Daytime Drama Series, Outstanding Lead Performance in a Daytime Drama Series: Actress for Nancy Lee Grahn, Outstanding Supporting Performance in a Daytime Drama Series: Actor for Jonathan Jackson, Outstanding Directing Team for a Daytime Drama Series and Outstanding Writing Team for a Daytime Drama Series.
The Drew Barrymore Show was next with three including a somewhat surprise win for Drew Barrymore as Outstanding Talk Series Host. It was Barrymore’s first ever Emmy win (she was previously nominated for four Daytime Emmys and two Primetime Emmys). Live with Kelly and Mark upset The Kelly Clarkson Show‘s four-year reign in that category. Interestingly, Barrymore, Ripa and Consuelos were all not present for their wins. The Secret Lives of Animals and Secret Lives of Orangutans also won three awards each, and Black Barbie, Days of Our Lives, Delicious Miss Brown, Disney Parks Magical Christmas Day Parade, Entertainment Tonight and The Kelly Clarkson Show earned two wins each.
Sir David Attenborough, 99, won Outstanding Daytime Personality – Non-Daily for the Netflix program, Secret Lives of Orangutans. With, he set a new record as the oldest person to win a Daytime Emmy, beating Dick Van Dyke’s record by one year that he just set last season. Van Dyke won Outstanding Guest Performer in a drama series last year at 98 for his performance on Days of Our Lives. Attenborough, younger brother of two-time Academy Award winner Richard Attenborough (Gandhi), is also a three-time Primetime Emmy winner for his narration in three different series.’
Lisa Yamada became the inaugural winner in the Emerging Talent in a Daytime Drama Series category for The Bold and the Beautiful, which was one of three new awards handed out at the 2025 Daytime Emmys alongside Outstanding Culinary Cultural Series and Regional Content in a Daytime Genre, which went to Chasing Flavor with Carla Hall and createid | SARA: A Life in Dreams and Symbols (Idaho Public Television), respectively.
The 52nd annual Daytime Emmy Awards were handed out Friday night at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium while streaming on The Emmys apps and at watch.TheEmmys.tv. Mario Lopez served as the night’s host. During the live show, Deborah Norville was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award. Here is the complete list of winners.
