54th NAACP Image Awards: ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,’ ‘The Woman King’ lead film nominees; women dominate Entertainer of the Year
The NAACP has announced their nominees across film, music, television, literary categories and more where Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and The Woman King lead for movies with nine and seven nods apiece. Other motion picture nominees include Emancipation, The Jazzman’s Blues and Till.
The org’s Entertainer of the Year nominees are all women for the first time in NAACP history. Angela Bassett and Viola Davis, both also motion picture acting nominees, are up against Mary J. Blige, and television nominees Quinta Brunson and Zendaya. Bassett is also nominated in television, making her a triple nominee today. Keke Palmer is also a triple nominee for her lead performance in the film Alice, her voicework in the animated film Lightyear and as Outstanding Host in a Reality/Reality Competition, Game Show or Variety (Series or Special) for Password.
The 54th NAACP Image Awards will air live on the BET Network February 25, 2023 from the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in Pasadena, CA.
