‘Severance’ Leads 2025 Television Critics Association (TCA) Nominations

Apple TV+’s Severance leads the 41st Television Critics Association nominees announced this morning, with five nominations. Close behind were Netflix’s Adolescence, HBO Max’s The Pitt and Hacks, and Apple TV+’s The Studio, earning four apiece. All are nominated for Program of the Year.
Joining those titles for Program of the Year are Disney+’s Andor, HBO’s The Rehearsal and HBO’s The White Lotus, marking no network representation this year.
Severance received three individual nominations for drama for cast members Adam Scott, Britt Lower and Tramell Tillman as well as a drama series nod. Hacks and Adolescence also received multiple individual acting nominations in comedy and drama, respectively. Disny+’s Andor, CBS’s Matlock and HBO’s The Rehearsal were triple nominees this year. AMC’s Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire was a double nominee, earning nods in drama series and individual achievement in drama for star Jacob Anderson. FX’s The Bear, a former champ with the TCA, managed just a single nomination, for Liza Colón-Zayas.
In some category confusion, at least with regards to the Television Academy and the Emmy Awards, Disney+’s Agatha All Along is placed in limited series while FX’s Dying for Sex is in comedy; those placements are reversed for the Emmy Awards, whose nominations will be announced on July 15.
Nominations were voted on by the 235 members of the Television Critics Association earlier this summer. As the TCA summer press tour was canceled, there will also be no in-person TCA Awards ceremony this year. Instead, winners will be announced later this summer in a virtual manner, via the TCA’s social media.
Nominees were chosen out of any show that was distributed on major broadcast, cable, and streaming platforms between June 1, 2024, and May 31, 2025.
“With these nominations, we honor the art of television and the artists who create it,” said TCA president Andy Dehnart, the founder and editor of reality blurred, said. “Our members independently selected these nominees, having championed these shows and in their writing, reporting, and criticism throughout the past year.”
The TCA will reveal this year’s Career Achievement and Heritage Award winners later this summer.
