Interview: Adam Scott on his banner year and first career Emmy nominations with ‘Severance’ [VIDEO]
Much has happened since we last spoke with Adam Scott. He became a first-time Emmy nominee for his work in Severance and was cast in the Sony/Marvel Spider-Man spin Madame Web, playing a role that has yet to be disclosed (but I have my suspicions which we addressed in our chat). As it happened, each of these events happened within days of one another. In fact, according to Scott, he flew out to begin filming this project the same afternoon nominations were announced. It’s fair to say that he’s probably not had much time to fully process what has unfolded these past weeks. Scott even joked in our chat that he was in such a fog over this fantastic news that he forgot to pack a belt for his flight to Boston (where they began filming).
What was striking about the discussion with Scott was how, even after all of his success, it’s as if he’s in shock that he’s achieved so much. He admits in the chat that he’s more comfortable speaking about the success of his castmates than even his own. It’s hard not to root for him as he competes in such a stacked category of nominees. If the saying is that nice guys finish last, then Scott might be the exception. Time will tell.
Adam Scott is Emmy-nominated in the categories of Outstanding Drama Series and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for the episode “Good News About Hell” from Severance, which is currently available to stream on AppleTV+.
