The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) announced that this will be the last year that Oscar voters will be using paper ballots to submit their choices for the Academy Awards.
Starting next year, Academy members will be required to vote electronically, putting them in line with the Television Academy (the Emmys) and the Recording Academy (the Grammys) who have already transitioned over. While the move to electronic balloting for the Oscars began in 2012, it has been a slow process to get to paper-free.

While the Academy notified members of the change last October, they will begin rolling out the process during the governors election next spring.
Final paper ballots go out next week with the voting period lasting February 20-27. The 90th Academy Awards will be held on Sunday March 4th with Jimmy Kimmel hosting for the second year in a row.
