‘Arcane’ and ‘Legendary’ among Emmys Juried Winners
August is here, which means we’re one month closer to the Primetime Emmys. The Creative Arts Emmys are getting closer, too, which is why the Juried Winners for the 2022 Emmys were announced today, providing winners in different categories including animation, costume, hairstyling, makeup and motion design.
Each entry for the categories are screened by a panel of industry peers in the categories. Winners are picked by a one-step evaluation and voting process, followed by a review of the project. Different from regular Emmy categories, there can be either one winner, multiple winners or no winner in each category based on the voting of the peers.
This year, there are six winners in the category for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Animation, each being a specific episode from animated series. Netflix represents five out of six of these winners in this category. Arcane took home three wins in the category for three episodes of its first season (episodes four, six and seven of the first season). The only winner in this category not from Netflix is Prime Video’s The Boys Presents: Diabolical for its fourth episode. Another category with more than one winner is Outstanding Makeup for a Variety, Nonfiction or Reality Program. Winners in this category are both from the HBO family and both for their second seasons: Legendary and We’re Here. We’re Here also took home the win for Oustanding Costumes for Variety, Nonfiction or Reality Programming, being the only winner in the category. Outstanding Motion Design has only one winner this year, AppleTV+’s Home Before Dark taking home the win. Outstanding Hairstyling for a Variety, Nonfiction or Reality Program went to NBC’s production of Annie Live!, the only winner in the category.
These awards will be given out at the Creative Arts Emmys on September 3rd.
