Beyoncé and Jay-Z, Lin-Manuel Miranda earn Guild of Music Supervisors nominations
The Guild of Music Supervisors have revealed the nominees for its 12th annual awards, celebrating outstanding achievement in the craft of Music Supervision for film, television, games, documentaries, advertising, and trailers.
The film categories, which are separated into four sections based on budget (from lover than $5M to above $25M) include just one original score Oscar nominees, Encanto, alongside Being the Ricardos, Annette, The Eyes of Tammy Faye, Passing, Red Rocket, Zola and more.
For Best Song Written and/or Recorded for a Film there are two Oscar nominees: “Dos Oruguitas” from Encanto written, by Lin-Manuel Miranda and “Be Alive” from King Richard, written by Beyoncé. Other nominees include “Guns Go Bang” from The Harder They Fall written Jeymes Samuel, Scott Mescudi (aka Kid Cudi), Shawn Carter (aka Jay-Z), “My Father’s Daughter” from Flag Day written by Eddie Vedder and “Fire In The Sky” from Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings, written by Anderson .Paak and Bruno Mars.
In television, The Crown, Lovecraft Country and The White Lotus and Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist were among the nominees in the Television Drama and Television Comedy or Musical categories.
Diane Warren, who recently received her 13th Oscar nomination for the song “Somehow You Do” from Four Good Days, will receive the Guild of Music Supervisors’ Icon Award at the virtual ceremony taking place on March 20.
The Guild of Music Supervisors is a non-profit organization that was founded in 2010 with the goal of preserving and promoting the critical role of the Music Supervisor within all forms of media. For more information on the ceremony, visit GMSAwards.com.
