CDG Nominations: Spandex and Cowboy Hats
One more set of nominations today, this time from the guild that designs pretty clothes, the Costume Designers Guild. These folks always have three categories for film, Period, Fantasy, and Contemporary. It’s the first category that usually does best when it comes to the actual Oscar nominations, so expect at least three or four of those to show up on the 16th.
Of all things, Dallas Buyers Club shows up here again. It was completely shut out at BAFTA, and missed ASC, but then we didn’t expect the latter. But we didn’t expect it here either, and there it is again. It is slowly working its way to the best nomination haul after 12 Years A Slave and American Hustle, which incidentally also show up here. Elsewhere, we have a nod for Philomena (really?), and it’s the first time box-office story of the year The Hunger Games: Catching Fire shows up. The fantasy film might not be an odd choice to make it in on nomination morning actually, though don’t count out the seemingly biggest snub The Invisible Woman too.
Who do you think will be nominated in the end? Come tell us on our forums.
For the sake of being complete, we will add the nominations for television as well.
