Creative Arts Emmys 2023 Night Two: Keke Palmer Makes History, ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ Scores Big

Tonight was Night Two of the Creative Arts Emmys, honoring the best in television from June 1, 2022 to May 31, 2023. After The Last of Us had a strong showing last night, the races began heating up in preparation for next Sunday’s Primetime Emmys. Tonight’s winners included RuPaul’s Drag Race, Welcome to Wrexham and Saturday Night Live.

At tonight’s ceremony, Maya Rudolph won the award for Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance for her work in Big Mouth, the only award for the series tonight. It was her fifth Emmy win and third in this category for Big Mouth. Welcome to Wrexham had a strong showing by winning six awards including Outstanding Unstructured Reality Program, Directing for a Reality Program, and Picture Editing for an Unstructured Reality Program.

Creative Arts Emmys 2023 Night One Winners

RuPaul’s Drag Race took home three Emmys at tonight’s ceremony, RuPaul winning Outstanding Reality Competition Host for the 8th consecutive year in a row. The series also took home the award for Outstanding Editing for a Structured Reality Series. Keke Palmer also won for her hosting duties on Password, the first Black woman to have ever been nominated for Outstanding Host for a Game Show. 

After the series leading man won night, I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson took home the award for Short Form Comedy Series. Moonage Daydream took home both the Sound Mixing and Sound Editing for Nonfiction or Reality Program awards. Dancing with the Stars took home several awards, including Choreography for a Variety or Reality Program and Outstanding Technical Direction. Rounding out reality television wins is The Traitors, which took home the Casting for a Reality Program award. 

The Primetime Emmy Awards are next Sunday, January 15th.
