Critics Societies roundup 6
It has been a while, but we finally have some results from a batch of film critics organizations again. In this roundup, we have Georgia, North Carolina, and Denver (who apparently represent the whole state of Colorado; by the way, design a proper logo, guys). Now, these mostly feature the regular suspects, though it's interesting to note that Leonardo DiCaprio's turn in The Wolf Of Wall Street is starting to show up more regularly. This seems to indicate that the film not being seen was an initial hurdle the film had to take. Did it start it's rush in time to make a splash ten days from now? It sure looks like DiCaprio is closing in on perceived fifth place holder Robert Redford. Some might even contend he has already overtaken him.
Elsewhere, Amy Adams is still doing rather well with these second tier critics awards. It is in the top tier that she is struggling, and her bid to overcome Emma Thompson or Meryl Streep still feels like a losing one. This one will probably be decided at BAFTA in a few days time, so do check back with us on that one.
and then it is fun to see what sort of left-field picks these people can come up with. Woody Harrelson, Denver? Sarah Paulson, a pick in North Carolina for 12 Years A Slave is also one we haven't seen before. And go Margot Robbie, for scoring with Georgia for The Wolf Of Wall Street. Obviously, these will go nowhere come Oscar time, but hey, you were mentioned at least once!
