The Directors Guild of America (DGA) has announced the nominees for directorial achievement in television across drama, comedy, limited series and more where AppleTV+’s Severance and HBO’s Station Eleven earned double nods.
The directing for a drama series nominees are Jason Bateman for the series finale of Ozark, Vince Gilligan for Better Call Saul, Sam Levinson for Zendaya’s Emmy-winning submission of Euphoria, and Aoife McArdle and Ben Stiller for Severance.
Category confusion for The White Lotus rages on as the show, which began as a limited series for the Emmys and SAG but is now classified as a drama with the return of Emmy winner Jennifer Coolidge as the same character in season two, showed up at the DGA in comedy series alongside Tim Burton for Wednesday, Bill Hader for Barry, Amy Sherman-Palladino for The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and Christopher Storer for The Bear.
The documentary directing nominees included Shaunak Sen for All That Breathes, Laura Poitras for All the Beauty and the Bloodshed, Sara Rosa for Fire of Love, Daniel Roher for Navalny and Matthew Heineman for Retrograde.
The feature film nominees are set to be announced January 11. The 75th Directors Guild of America (DGA) Awards will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills.
