FINAL 2019 Oscar Predictions: FOREIGN LANGUAGE FILM

Can anything really beat Roma here?
There’s really nothing standing in its way unless you think that the voting body doesn’t want to give the film both this and Best Picture. The odds are still stacked way in Roma‘s favor, not simply with its unilateral FLF wins everywhere, but because when a film is nominated here and in Best Picture it never loses. Cold War having that Best Director nomination is giving some people some hesitation, but not me. A loss here would be completely shocking.
Mexico is finally going to win an Oscar after 50 submissions (the record holder) and 8 nominations (2nd place).
1. ROMA – Mexico (BAFTA, BFCA, GG)
2. COLD WAR – Poland
3. SHOPLIFTERS – Japan
4. NEVER LOOK AWAY – Germany
5. CAPERNAUM – Lebanon
BAFTA – British Film Academy Awards
BFCA – Broadcast Film Critics Association (Critics Choice)
GG – Golden Globes
