FINAL 2024 Oscar Predictions: FILM EDITING and CINEMATOGRAPHY

We won’t have the ACE Eddie nominations for film editing until two days after Oscar nominations so they’re not a precursor here but we do have Critics Choice and BAFTA, which give us a peek. Anatomy of a Fall has been collecting editing wins and nominations from critics and The Holdovers has really proven itself a top tier competitor and if anything is going to challenge Oppenheimer at the top it’s almost got to show up here too.
Killers of the Flower Moon, Maestro, Oppenheimer and Poor Things have all secured nominations from the American Society of Cinematographers, BAFTA and Critics Choice and I think they’re all in with BAFTA nominee The Zone of Interest (from previous nominee Łukasz Żal) over ASC nominee El Conde. But I wouldn’t even count out a surprise nod for Saltburn from previous winner Linus Sandgren. However it falls, we’re likely not going to have a first-time nominee here, which hasn’t happened since 2016.
Oscar nominations will be announced on January 23 and the 96th Academy Awards will be held on March 10. Here are my final 2024 Oscar predictions in Film Editing and Cinematography.
