First Batch of Posters for ‘The Danish Girl’ with Eddie Redmayne and Alicia Vikander (UPDATE)

The first collection of posters for the Toronto and Venice entry The Danish Girl from Focus Features and starring Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne (The Theory of Everything) and the now ubiquitous Alicia Vikander (Ex Machina, Testament of Youth) has popped up today showing us great detail about Redmayne’s transition in the film. It’s hard to tell if these are official or not but they look like the real thing, save the placeholder type in some of the credits. The tagline “Find the Courage to Be Yourself” feels Oscar-ready, if a bit eye-rollingly uninspired. Speaking of Oscar, much has been discussed about Vikander’s possible category placement for the race and I feel very comfortable in my placement of her in Lead, where I’ve had her since the beginning of the year. A push to Supporting would seem to be some serious category fraud but hey, it’s happened plenty of times before so who knows. It all depends on how Focus Features thinks it can best manage the campaigns (and expectations) of their two big movies this season, The Danish Girl and Suffragette.
